July is Parks and Recreation MonthJuly is Parks and Recreation Month and Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency has some great leisure opportunities for you and your family. For the girl who loves softball, don’t miss the opportunity to register her for Cherokee Youth Softball beginning Tuesday, July 5. Registration is taken in person at the Recreation Center. Leagues start at age 6 and Under and go up to age 16 and under. Does your 8 to12 year old love water? Then Waterlogged Camp might be perfect for your child. For $160, your child can attend a special water-based field trip daily including White Water, Lake Lanier, Tubing in Helen and more. The camp is 9 am-4:30 pm, July 18-22. Don’t delay, as there are a few spots left. Register in person or online at www.crpa.net. If your 7 to10 year old boy or girl loves sports and wants to learn the basic fundamentals of soccer, basketball, softball, football, tennis, volleyball and bowling, then CRPA’s All Sport Camp was designed for your child! The camp is July 25-29, 9 am -1 pm for $100. Register in person or online at www.crpa.net. CRPA offers a wide range of monthly instructional classes, including Fencing, Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, and Cardio Kickboxing. Fees range from $35-$65/month. Register in person or online at www.crpa.net. Finally, with five weekends in July, CRPA encourages you to “Rock Your Park” and visit one of CRPA’s parks or facilities each weekend. Play tennis, kick the ball around with your child, go play on a playground, enjoy a nice walk on a walking trail, or take your horse on a trail ride.
